Green Cameroon’s message to the world on the World Youth Day 2013.
World Youth Day 2013: “Go and make Disciples of All Nations” (Matthew 28:19)
World Youth Day (WYD) is an event for young people organized by the Catholic Church initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1985. For the first celebration of WYD in 1986, bishops all over the world were invited to schedule an annual youth event to be held every Palm Sunday in their dioceses. It is celebrated at the diocesan level annually and at the international level every two to three years at different locations.
Just days after the close of World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, Benedict XVI unveiled the theme for the next international World Youth Day, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and worldwide in 2013: “Go and make disciples of all nations”.
We at Green Cameroon, want youths with similar interest to share their views and come forward to make this campaign a successful one.
Young people are the future of humanity and they have a crucial role to play in its future as they enter into adulthood. To do so responsibly, they need a proper biblical, educational and moral foundation that enables them to distinguish between right and wrong, virtue and vice.
No wonder Rainer M. said, “If we surrendered to earth’s intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees.” So our focus this year is to ask Thoreau H. question about “a tolerable planet” but in a slightly different way which is;“What’s the use of surrendering to earth’s intelligence and making fine disciples of all nations if you haven’t got a tolerable environment to carry on with your newly made disciples?
It’s important for young people to sanctify their study because it’s important to contribute effectively to the betterment of the planet earth through their own work. By involving ourselves with the society, our colleagues begin to appreciate us more. This in turn gives us the opportunity to know more people and therefore to share the discovery of the love of God with us. For those who have found true happiness, it’s impossible for them to tell you they hard it in an unfavorable environment.
Franklin D. Roosevelt commented that, “A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people”
Green Cameroon believes that “fresh strength” to our people is what the youths need to enable them make disciples easily. A society with a friendly environment would have happy people who may also like to share the happiness which comes with the word of God.
The earth will not continue to offer disciples, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love all nations and their lands and then take steps to destroy them for use by future generations. That’s hypocrisy.
We should multiply and fight and gobbled until there is nothing left, and then make the world a better place or “fertile ground” to win souls for Christ. We cannot destroy the world first and then go out to create disciples from nations we destroyed.
Happy World Youth Day
